Technical Arts
Our department strives to be a well-rounded theatre experience. We teach our students advance techniques in makeup, sound, lights, and set design. Students can sign up to be part of our Saturday Tech crew for productions or our STAGECRAFT course during the school day for further training.
Theatre Courses
Burke High School offers a variety of theatre courses including: Stagecraft, Advanced Stagecraft, Drama 1-2, Advanced Drama 3-4, Honors Drama 5-6 and Honors Drama 7-8. Upper level Drama classes are available to be dual enrolled at Metro Community College.
Masterclasses
Another benefit to being in the Burke Theatre Department is the workshops and masterclasses students get to participate in. Taught by Broadway professionals, they learn new audition techniques, stage combat, dance and much more.
ITS Chapter
Burke is a proud chapter of the International Thespian Society Troupe #4138. Being in this society has been able to connect burke to thousands of other schools, take workshops, and see shows.
