Each year, the drama department creates 3-4 productions. All students are welcome to audition regardless of experience. Students are able to audition to be part of the cast as an actor or working backstage with our technical crew. Technical crew covers the following areas: Lighting design, sound design, set construction, run crew, costuming, makeup, props manager, and stage manager. Students are encouraged to take part in a production through both acting and tech in their time at Northwest.

Each year, a student-written production is chosen for our winter One Act. The playwright also serves as the director for the show, handling audition process and the creative process for both tech and actors. We then take this show on the road to the OPS One Act Festival, where every high school (and some middle schools) perform their 30-minute piece for adjudicators provided by the hosting school. All students are encouraged to write a one act if they choose, however seniors receive priority due to the amount of work being a student director holds. One Act Submissions will be due on September 22nd, 2023 in order to be considered.

Auditions: October 30-31^st from 3:15-4:30 in the auditorium.

Fine Arts Awards Night: A night where students who take part in band, choir, and/or drama are celebrated and awarded. This night is also where Drama students are given ‘Willy Awards,’ student-voted categories based on performances done in the year. May 9^th, 2024 @ 7pm – NW Auditorium
