About Beals Elementary

  •  Beals consists of kindergarten through sixth grade and serves approximately 300 students.  There are two kindergarten, two first and two second grade classrooms. Beals also has one third grade, one third/fourth combo, one fourth, one fifth, one fifth/sixth combo and one sixth grade to accommodate students. Our kindergarten classes are a full day of learning. We are very excited to share that we are finding great success at meeting ALL students’ needs through the inclusion model. Teachers co-teach and work together to meet the individual needs of students. Individual plans of success are created, so that we make certain that we are meeting the social and instructional needs of our students.

We have been extremely successful in creating a safe and secure learning environment where all staff and students take ownership in their school. Our Parent-Teacher Organization is one of the strongest in the area, offering numerous activities and opportunities for our students. Our staff are involved within the community and take a vested interest in making sure Beals is the best it can possibly be!

We would not be successful without our supportive "Bobcat" Parents. Thanks so much, and please always feel free to contact Beals if we can better serve you or your student(s)! Lastly, Beals students do NOT need to purchase or bring their own school supplies. Beals will provide all necessary school supplies.

History

  • Samuel Dewitt Beals

Beals School is named in honor of Samuel Dewitt Beals, who was Superintendent of schools from 1874 to 1880.
Beals has a long and colorful history in the Omaha community and within the Omaha Public School network. The facility has been a public school for over 100 years.

Beals School was constructed in a field near the Morton farm. Located atop a hill, prominently situated along Center Street, it housed kindergarten through eighth grade and met the educational needs of generations of Omahans.

    School Renovation

Omaha Public School District started a massive renovation project in 2001 enabling this historic site to continue as a functioning school building well into the 21st century. In general the project provided a focal main entrance uniting the two structures, an expanded administration space, an expanded media center, an expansion of space to include classrooms previously housed in two portable buildings, upgrading the facility to current ADA standards, installing Internet and computer links in all areas, installing telephones and an up to date communication system throughout the facility, and installing air conditioning throughout the facility. With these improvements Beals Elementary continues to maintain its excellent standing within the community and serve as an vital learning environment within the Omaha Public School District.
