History

  • Laura Dodge Elementary School was opened in 1964 to provide a comprehensive program of instruction for students, grades K - 6. The attendance area at the time was suburban, which quickly developed into a single-family subdivision. In 1975, students who resided in the Lothrop Elementary School attendance area were assimilated into the student enrollment as part of the Desegregation Plan.

Laura Dodge School has been providing quality education to the community for over 50 years. Our experienced staff of teachers is dedicated to providing each child the best educational opportunity possible. Our regular school program is supplemented with many special services including Adopt-A-School partners. We offer a variety of opportunities to form meaningful and responsible relationships with their peers. We realize the importance of developing in each student an attitude of self-respect and self-worth. School spirit is high and students display enthusiasm toward learning.

Laura Dodge School is strongly supported by parents who participate actively and consistently in PTA activities, fund-raising events, and other school related projects. Educational experiences are enhanced by PTA contributions of time and financial support. Parents are our partners in the important job of educating the children of this community.

We are a community of diverse multicultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Our students are provided the necessary tools, knowledge and desire to advance to the next educational level.
Each facet of Laura Dodge provides a cooperative extension of individual effort toward educating our children for survival in today's changing world.
