Mrs. Pérez-Mozaz

I am María Pérez-Mozaz, and it is an honor to be the principal of Liberty Elementary.  Liberty has approximately 600 students and opens our doors daily to serve students in Pre-K through sixth grade.  We have a Dual Language Program that runs Kindergarten - 6th grade for 40–50 students at each grade level.

We are situated at the edge of our wonderful downtown and enjoy the many advantages of our location. This location provides many opportunities to learn about city government, art, and architecture, and to attend local performances. We are within walking distance to many of our partners, which include the Omaha Children's Museum, the Rose Theater, the YMCA, Joslyn Art Museum, and the Fire Station. Our other partners include One World Health Clinic, Creighton University, UNO, Gallup, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Completely Kids, Urban Abbey and the Omaha Public Library.

Here at Liberty Elementary, we truly believe together is better! Through teamwork and open communication, we can continue to make Liberty Elementary a place of belonging where children develop into lifelong learners.  The entire Liberty family joins me in welcoming you!  Please do not hesitate to contact me.

Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Wilkins

Greetings Liberty Elementary, Home of the Superstars families!

I am Mr. Wilkins, the new assistant principal of Liberty Elementary, home of the Superstars! I have been working in the educational field for over 38 years in various capacities in California, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. I have had the pleasure of working in the Omaha Public Schools for 18 years (16 as an administrator). I started my career as a teacher in the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools system, where I taught 4th and 5th grade. I then became an assistant principal at the elementary level, and then the middle school level at Kansas City Kansas Public Schools. I then served as an assistant principal in Kansas City, Missouri for 7 years and then returned to Omaha Public Schools in 2007. I received two undergraduate degrees, one from the University of Southern California in General Studies in 1983, followed by a teaching degree from Saint Mary College in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1995. I then received my master’s degree from Emporia State University in Education Administration in 1997. I have also served in the United States Air Force for 4 years (two years in Germany and two years at Offutt Air Force Base). I enjoy working in the field of education, making a difference in young students’ lives. I have a passion to work with students, shaping and molding them for the future. My goal is to aid students in having the best educational experience as they journey through their educational career. I look forward to meeting with, talking to, and getting to know the students, the families, and the staff of Liberty Elementary.
