School Counseling
Counselors throughout Omaha Public Schools work to develop student success in academic, social and college and career readiness. Counselors interact with students regularly. They provide classroom instruction and activities to develop academic and emotional skills. They also provide individual and small group counseling. These small group settings can help students resolve conflicts, practice skills and think through their actions.
In addition to the services above, counselors at No Excuses University - Field Club prepare students for college and university starting in Pre-Kindergarten. Every classroom has a connection to a college or university and is committed to helping students understand that college is not just a dream, it's a plan! Part of that plan is staying drug free. NEU Field Club spends one week each year learning about destruction caused by drugs, but also how being drug free can help individuals attain their goals.
We are also excited about having our amazing therapy dog, Herbie. Herbie belongs to counselor Jill Parkert and he joins us a few days a week throughout the school year. He is an amazing listener, cheerleader, and all around great guy!
