Prairie Wind Elementary School first opened its doors in August of 1994, welcoming 463 students into a brand-new space dedicated to learning, growth, and community. Located at 10908 Ellison Avenue in northwest Omaha, Nebraska, Prairie Wind was built with the vision of providing a safe, supportive, and academically rich environment for all learners.

Since that first day, Prairie Wind has grown alongside the community it serves. Today, we are proud to support approximately 725 students from kindergarten through 5th grade, with a dedicated staff of over 90 professionals working together to help each child succeed.

Over the years, Prairie Wind has become more than just a school—it’s a place where families feel at home, friendships flourish, and students are encouraged to be kind, curious, and confident. We are proud of our rich history and even more excited for the future as we continue to grow, adapt, and support every student, every day.
