    Welcome to the South High Vocal Music Program!
    South High is excited to be able to offer 8 unique vocal music classes throughout the school day. While there is a focus on Choral Music, students are able to take voice lessons both during the school day, and after school.
     
    Freshman Choir (Jr. Chorus)- Open to all Freshman (9th Graders), this choir is a non-auditioned choir that all Freshman are put into. A focus on building each of our own unique voices, musical literacy, and performing music in a variety of styles and languages is a focus of this choir. They perform 5 times a year, and are co-directed by Mr. Gruttemeyer and Mr. Lesher And Choreographed by Stephani Hyatt.
     
    Mixed Chorus is our non-auditioned 10th - 12th grade choir offered at South. This choir focuses on advanced choral literature, while encouraging students to audition for the All-City music festival in February. These students work on building skills from Freshman Choir, however students may join Mixed Chorus if they did not take Freshman Choir. Mixed Chorus performs 6-7 times a school year, and is directed by Mr. Lesher And Choreographed by Stephani Hyatt.
     
    Concert Choir - Our auditioned large Choral ensemble, Concert Choir is comprised of 11th-12th grade students and performs advanced choral literature in varying genres, styles, and languages. These students are encourage to audition for the NMEA All-State Choir in November. This choir requires an audition to enroll. This choir performs from 8-10 times a year, and has performed on the Holland Stage as members of the Omaha Symphony's Choral Collaborative in the past. This ensemble is co-directed by Mr. Gruttemeyer and Mr. Lesher.
